The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) is searching for an innovative and forward‑thinking leader to oversee parole operations in the Southern region. Under the administrative direction of the Assistant Deputy Director, Division of Adult Parole Operations (DAPO), the Chief Deputy Regional Administrator (CDRA) is responsible for field operations in an assigned parole region or DAPO headquarters. The CDRA provides managerial administrative oversight of field parole districts or DAPO headquarters support or re‑entry units and may act on behalf of the Assistant Deputy Director as needed.

Working Conditions

Work location: Los Angeles County. Moderate to extensive travel is required.

Minimum Requirements
  • Essential general qualifications: integrity, initiative, dependability, good judgment, and ability to work cooperatively with others.
  • Knowledge of the organization and functions of California State Government and the department’s Equal Employment Opportunity Program.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and direct the work of multidisciplinary professional and administrative staff.
  • Minimum Qualifications: Broad administrative or program manager experience with substantial participation in the formulation, operation, and/or evaluation of program staff and related functions.

  • Experience building effective, cooperative, and collaborative partnerships with local agencies, employers, and other stakeholders.
  • Experience with parole operations and programs, community correctional models, and parole management practices.
  • Experience in personnel management and supervision, including support of employee wellness and diversity inclusion.
