Job summary

Ladders is seeking a Chief Data & Interoperability Architect to shape enterprise data strategy for a federal health program. Remote role with near-real-time data exchange across teams, including legacy-to-modern migration and security-focused collaboration.

The position requires deep experience with HL7 v2, FHIR interfaces, REST APIs, and cloud integrations. You will drive SaFe-aligned delivery and modernization initiatives across development, data, operations, and security.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, health informatics, or related field with 8-12 years of relevant experience.
• 10 years in software engineering, systems integration, or data engineering, including 3 years as a solution architect or technical lead.
• Experience with production HL7 v2 and FHIR interfaces, including mapping and validation.
• Proficient in designing REST APIs and cloud-hosted integrations using enterprise integration engines or API-management platforms.
• Experience with containerized microservices and migrating legacy SOAP services to REST/FHIR, preferably in AWS GovCloud.
• Knowledge of event-driven or streaming data flows, such as Kafka or Amazon MSK/Kinesis.
• Familiarity with MHS/DHA environments and government compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Own the data and interoperability architecture, including HL7 v2 and FHIR interfaces

• Define the OMOP Common Data Model and design event-driven data flows for near-real-time exchange

• Translate architecture into backlog work and support iterative testing and release demos within SAFe and Azure DevOps
• Align technical decisions across development, data, operations, and security teams

For our client, we are seeking a Chief Data & Interoperability Architect to join the team of a leader in the Technical Services space.

This role will shape the enterprise data and interoperability strategy for a high-impact federal health program. You will lead architecture decisions that connect legacy and modern platforms, enabling secure, near-real-time information exchange across technical and operational teams. The position also calls for close collaboration with development, data, operations, and security stakeholders to translate strategy into executable delivery. In addition, you will help guide modernization efforts that improve integration quality, release readiness, and overall technical alignment.

Location: Remote

Compensation: $107,900 - $195,050 annually
