Job summary

MEDIKO is seeking a physician to provide comprehensive medical care to inmates in a correctional setting at the Athens facility in Clarke County Jail, GA. The role focuses on diagnosing, treating, and managing a wide range of health issues, in collaboration with nursing and other healthcare staff.

Responsibilities include prescribing medications, maintaining medical records, and ensuring adherence to facility policies and regulations.

Qualifications

• A current, valid, and unrestricted state license.
• A current, valid DEA registration, if applicable.
• Board certification in a relevant specialty is preferred, if applicable.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical practice, with at least 1-2 years in correctional healthcare or underserved population setting preferred.
• Active CPR/BLS certificate required (American Heart Association/American Red Cross guideline approved).

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive medical care to incarcerated individuals, diagnosing, treating, and managing acute and chronic conditions.
• Prescribe medications and treatments; monitor and adjust plans as needed.
• Collaborate with physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and nurses to ensure coordinated care.
• Participate in leadership and mentorship within the healthcare team.
• Ensure accurate documentation and adherence to HIPAA and facility policies.
