Tectonic is seeking a full-time Chief Inspector for a ConnDOT project in the Orange, CT area. This is an exciting opportunity for professional growth and advancement within the A/E/C industry!


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


Essential functions of the Chief Inspector position include supervising, coordinating, and tracking the progress of construction projects, assisting and advising inspectors regarding project management, construction, and inspection issues, and alerting supervisors of major or consistent discrepancies. They will also prepare construction documents and records, comply with budget standards, perform inspections as needed, and provide assurance to clients that the project has been constructed in accordance with the contract documents, as well as all related duties as required.


QUALIFICATIONS


  • Valid CT Professional Engineering License or valid NICET IV certification and a minimum of 5 years of experience in civil, highway, or relevant engineering field with 4 years of inspection experience and 2 years of supervisory experience;

  • ConnDOT experience or other DOT experience is required;

  • Relevant NETTCP certifications, or the ability to require them within a reasonable time period is a plus;

  • Excellent communication skills, both orally and written, as well as outstanding interpersonal skills;

  • Ability to prepare correspondence, reports, and recommendations concerning construction issues and to establish and maintain project records;

  • Must have the ability to obtain OSHA Safety Certifications as required;

  • Understand the fundamentals of necessary inspection codes and requirements in order to carry out testing, and must be detail-oriented;

  • Requires a valid, clean driver's license and personal vehicle to travel to and within project sites, as regular daily travel is required.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


While performing the essential functions of this position, it is frequently necessary to:


  • Assume a stationary position,

  • Handle, inspect, and/or feel documents, materials and/or equipment relevant to the job;

  • Communicate with colleagues, supervisors, and clients using Company email and telephone systems;

  • Move around on the job-site, including ascending or descending on the landscape or on a ladder, and positioning oneself appropriately to access necessary testing materials and equipment, usually for prolonged periods of time,

  • Lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. for some types of monitoring and inspections,

  • Good visual skills, including focused depth perception, and

  • Regular daily operations of a motor-vehicle, which may require remaining stationary for extended periods of time.


Employees may also be required to undergo substance abuse testing in accordance with project requirements, US DOT Regulations, and/or Company policy. The employee may occasionally be required to operate a computer, as well as other related office machinery, such as calculators, printers, and copy machines.

PAY RANGE


Tectonic's goal is to compensate employees fairly and equitably across all positions Companywide. Our advertised pay ranges are representative of our good faith effort to provide a reasonable anticipated salary range. The offered pay may be outside of the provided salary range based upon the selected candidate's work location, experience, education, certifications, and capabilities compared to the advertised position.


Pay Range: $65.00 - $75.00 / hour
