Job summary

Englewood Area Fire Control District is seeking a Division Chief / Fire Marshal to lead the Community Risk Reduction Division. The role focuses on administration, strategic direction, and coordination of fire prevention, education, and investigation to enhance community safety.

The position requires extensive fire service experience, supervisory capability, and valid Florida credentials, reporting directly to the Fire Chief within a forward-leaning, risk-based organization.

Qualifications

• Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive fire service experience.
• Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory or command-level experience.
• Current and valid Florida Class E Driver's License.
• Current and valid Florida EMT or Paramedic Certification.
• Current and valid Florida Fire Safety Inspector I Certification.
• Current and valid Florida Fire Investigator Certification.
• Fire Officer II (minimum), Fire Officer III or IV preferred.
• NIMS Incident Management Training (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Oversee the administration, leadership, and strategic direction of the Community Risk Reduction Division (CRR).
• Lead fire prevention, code enforcement, public education, fire investigation, and risk reduction initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and align CRR efforts with data-driven practices.
• Report to the Fire Chief and participate as a key member of the executive leadership team.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Fire Science

Master’s degree preferred
