Job summary

The Division Chief / Fire Marshal at Englewood Area Fire Control District serves as the Community Risk Reduction (CRR) Coordinator, directing the department’s CRR Division. This role oversees fire prevention, code enforcement, public education, fire investigation, and risk-reduction initiatives to enhance community safety.

Reporting to the Fire Chief, the incumbent aligns CRR efforts with data-driven practices, ensures compliance with laws, and contributes as a member of the executive leadership

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Science, Public Administration, Emergency Management, or related field is required.
• Ten years of progressive fire service experience is required.
• Five years of supervisory or command-level experience is required.
• Current Florida driver’s license and required certifications are listed in the posting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Community Risk Reduction (CRR) initiatives and division activities.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, codes, and ordinances.
• Collaborate with executive leadership and report to the Fire Chief.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Fire Science, Public Administration, Emergency Management, or related field

Master’s degree preferred

Ten years of progressive fire service experience

Five years of supervisory or command-level experience

High school graduate
