Job summary

Oak Harbor Public Schools is seeking a Director of Strategic Communications & Community Engagement to lead districtwide messaging, aligned with the Strategic Plan, and strengthen partnerships with families, staff, and community partners.

The role includes crisis communications, media relations, and guiding storytelling across digital and traditional channels to support student success and community trust.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, community engagement, education, or related field preferred.
• Professional experience in strategic communications, public relations, journalism, or community engagement.
• Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and visual communication skills.
• Translate complex information into clear, audience-centered communication.
• Experience developing internal and external communication strategies.
• Storytelling across digital media, photography, videography, social media, web, print and emerging tools.
• Build relationships with diverse stakeholders and facilitate community engagement.
• Public Records Officer training or must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Valid Washington State driver's license.
