Job summary

True North Consultants, Inc. seeks a Director of Coastal Engineering and Waterfronts to lead the firm’s waterfronts practice. The role defines vision, expands markets, and guides multidisciplinary teams in delivering resilient waterfront solutions.

You will lead strategic planning, technical excellence, and operations, while building client relationships and driving growth across coastal infrastructure markets. This is an executive, office-based role with regional travel.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Coastal, Civil, Structural, or Marine Engineering.
• 15+ years of waterfront, coastal, or marine engineering with increasing leadership responsibilities.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required; additional credentials (D.PE, PMP, CFM) desired.
• Proven success leading practice groups, business units, or major market sectors.
• Strong portfolio of waterfront, marina, or coastal infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the strategic plan for the Waterfronts Practice, aligning with firmwide goals.
• Identify emerging market trends in coastal resilience and marine infrastructure.
• Lead budgeting, staffing plans, revenue forecasting, and financial oversight.
• Oversee permitting and regulatory work at federal, state, and local levels.
• Build client relationships and drive revenue growth for waterfront and coastal projects.
