Job summary

Paul Smith's College is seeking a Director of Campus Safety to lead safety policy development and supervise Campus Safety staff. The role directs vehicle use, parking programs, and security training to protect students, staff, and property.

The candidate will coordinate with campus leadership and local, state, and federal agencies, ensure compliance with the Clery Act, and lead emergency management initiatives while maintaining safety standards across the college community.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or higher preferred but not required.
• Experience in college safety, security or law enforcement.
• Must be certified or able to obtain certifications (First Aid, CPR, AED, etc.).
• Valid New York State driver’s license and licensure per Security Guard Act of 1992.
• Ability to work with diverse individuals and groups to foster a safe campus community.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements approved safety policies and procedures.
• Supervises Campus Safety staff and coordinates training.
• Liaises with college departments and law enforcement agencies.
• Oversees campus safety education and emergency management oversight.
• Monitors safety equipment and maintains records for staff payroll approval.
• Manages motor vehicle policies, parking, and traffic safety.
