Job summary

WTXL, the ABC affiliate in Tallahassee, Florida, owned by The E.W. Scripps Company, is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead the station’s technical operations and engineering initiatives. You’ll guide critical systems, collaborate across teams, and ensure reliable delivery of our broadcast and digital platforms.

You’ll manage a staff of engineers and IT technicians, develop budgets, enforce FCC compliance, and advance emerging technologies to support newsroom and production workflows.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in related discipline or equivalent years of experience preferred.
• Generally, 10+ years of experience in related field preferred.
• Prior managerial experience preferred.
• Network, SBE and/or Project Management certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering operations and initiatives for the station.
• Manage facilities (HVAC, power, security) and related systems.
• Collaborate with News on content workflow, integration, and infrastructure.
• Direct staffing, development and assessments for engineers, operators and IT staff.
• Establish and enforce engineering policies and procedures.
• Plan and document current and future broadcast and digital systems.
• Oversee budgets, purchases, and asset management using the purchasing system.
• Ensure FCC compliance and regulatory adherence.
