Qualifications

  • A law degree and admission to the Maryland Bar upon hire or soon after.
  • Minimum three years' experience representing low-wage workers; wage disputes preferred.
  • At least five years' experience in legal services or management; seven+ preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Proficiency with technology, including MS Office and case management systems.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Supervision experience with feedback and coaching.
  • Commitment to serving Maryland Legal Aid's mission.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Workers' Rights Unit's vision, plan, and structure.
  • Coordinate staff training and expand capacity to represent low-wage workers.
  • Hire and supervise a team including attorneys, paralegals, and staff.
  • Oversee unit operations, scheduling, and grant reporting.
  • Engage with community leaders and external partners to expand referrals.
  • Contribute to statewide strategy and pro bono initiatives.
  • Ensure culturally responsive, zealous, client-centered representation.
