Job summary

Baker Tilly seeks a Head of Agent Engineering to lead the design and implementation of agentic systems. You will define patterns for task decomposition, orchestration, memory management, and tool use, and drive end-to-end ownership of BT Compass and related product experiences.

You will mentor engineers, conduct code reviews, and partner with product, platform, and design teams to translate evolving practices into scalable firm standards.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of software engineering experience.
• 3+ years building and deploying LLM-based or agentic systems in production.
• Staff- or principal-level engineering experience.
• Deep experience designing evaluation harnesses and baselines to drive iteration.
• Strong knowledge of orchestration, tool calling, and memory management.
• Production code in Python and/or TypeScript.
• Experience leading cross-functional product teams.

Responsibilities

• Define and build agentic reference patterns and memory management.
• Maintain agent pattern library and orchestration standards.
• Own BT Compass end-to-end with agentic workflows.
• Build and own evaluation harness, baselines, and regression discipline.
• Set evaluation criteria with Product, Architecture, and Quality teams.
• Lead the Agent Factory and mentor engineers.
• Conduct hands-on design and code reviews across teams.
• Hire and develop full-stack AI engineers for agents and apps.
• Partner with internal and external experts to adopt best practices.
• Direct third-party engineers against Baker Tilly standards.
