Job summary

Lowcountry Land Trust is seeking a Chief Advancement Officer to guide philanthropy, strategy, and team growth. You will steward major donors, shape campaigns, and align fundraising with mission-driven goals.

The CAO collaborates with the CEO and board to expand partnerships and revenue opportunities in a hybrid in-office/remote setting. The role requires a track record of building philanthropy cultures, supervising staff, and managing donor databases to ensure ethical, data-driven fund

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
• Significant progressive experience in advancement, philanthropy, development, or related field.
• Supervisory experience of a department and external consultants.
• Demonstrated ability to build a culture of philanthropy.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with Virtuous donor database.
• Some evening and weekend work is required.
• Travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement an annual fundraising plan with goals across major gifts, annual giving, corporate and foundation support, planned giving, and campaigns.
• Lead, mentor, and develop an advancement team with accountability for outcomes.
• Provide strategic oversight of grant strategy and foundation relationships.
• Oversee events and donor engagement to meet revenue goals.
• Manage a portfolio of major donors and prospects; pursue significant gifts.
• Collaborate with leadership to expand business partnerships and philanthropic capacity.
