United Way Miami is seeking a VP, Accounting & Controller to direct day-to-day accounting operations, safeguard the organization’s financial records, and manage core accounting functions in accordance with U.S. GAAP for a nonprofit entity.

The role leads the accounting team, coordinates annual financial statement audits, and supports the CFO with financial reporting, internal controls, and grant accounting. The position offers a hybrid schedule and strategic leadership opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field; CPA or equivalent desired.
• 10+ years in accounting with controllership/senior management experience; strong GAAP and nonprofit accounting knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Direct and prioritize accounting staff; manage day-to-day operations, GL, close, reconciliations.
• Prepare GAAP-based financial statements and monthly reporting for management.
• Oversee audits, regulatory reporting, Form 990, and grant accounting; ensure internal controls.
