Job summary

The Common Market is seeking a hands-on General Manager to lead the Chicago distribution facility. You will own site performance, safety, and cost control while building strong teams across procurement, warehouse operations, trucking, and food safety.

You will drive operational excellence in a fast-paced environment, partnering with executives to deliver reliable service and continuous improvement across multiple functions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in operations, logistics, or distribution.
• 7–12+ years of operations experience.
• 3–5+ years leading frontline teams.
• Experience in food handling environments (SQF, HACCP, FSMA) required.

Responsibilities

• Own overall performance of the Chicago facility, including safety and cost control.
• Oversee warehouse operations, inventory accuracy, and productivity.
• Manage routing, fleet operations, driver scheduling, and DOT compliance.
• Maintain SQF, HACCP, FSMA compliance and lead audits.
• Lead staffing, coaching, and performance management for site roles.
• Develop and manage site budgets aligned with cost targets.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support operational success.
