Job summary

Messino Cancer Centers is seeking a part-time PRN Pharmacy Technician in Asheville, NC. The role entails preparing and mixing chemotherapy under supervision, managing Nucleus dispensing workflows, and coordinating with nursing staff to meet next-day medication needs.

Responsibilities include inventory control, biosafety compliance, and recordkeeping for compassionate programs and trials. Travel to educational meetings may be required; OSHA training and safety compliance are expected.

Qualifications

• PTCB certification or state registration as Pharmacy Technician is required.
• Minimum of three years’ experience in healthcare, preferably clinical as a Pharmacy Technician.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for educational and research meetings and training sessions.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and mix chemotherapy drugs and solutions under licensed supervision.
• Maintain proficiency with the Nucleus system for accurate dispensing and par-level management.
• Review next-day orders with nursing staff to anticipate medication needs.
• Order, stock, and track medical supplies and medications to maintain inventory levels.
• Maintain records for compassionate drug programs, clinical trials, and biohazard waste.
• Assist in training new pharmacy technicians and nursing staff on chemotherapy prep and Nucleus workflows.
• Support operations across multiple locations and participate in required overtime and safety trainings.
