Job summary

Alignerr is seeking a Chemistry Subject Matter Expert for remote, flexible hourly contract work to shape how AI understands and reasons through complex chemistry problems. You will design rigorous chemistry challenges and create clear, logical solutions while evaluating AI-generated reasoning for accuracy.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry or closely related field.
• Strong problem-solving skills across advanced chemistry domains.
• Able to communicate complex scientific concepts clearly in writing.
• Detail-oriented with a systematic evaluation approach.
• Self-motivated and comfortable working independently and asynchronously.
• No prior AI or ML experience required.

Responsibilities

• Design advanced chemistry problems to benchmark AI performance across domains (chemical engineering, biochemistry, organic chemistry, etc.).
• Develop clear, step-by-step solutions with precise, logical reasoning.
• Evaluate AI-generated outputs for scientific accuracy, depth, and quality of reasoning.
• Collaborate with researchers to refine benchmarks spanning undergraduate to Master’s level chemistry.
• Provide structured, actionable feedback to help AI models improve over time.

About The Role

We're looking for chemistry experts to help evaluate and improve AI systems trained on advanced scientific content. Your deep domain knowledge will directly shape how AI understands and reasons through complex chemistry problems — making a real impact on the next generation of large language models.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role working alongside world-leading AI research teams. No prior AI experience required.

What You'll Do

• Design rigorous, advanced chemistry problems to challenge and benchmark AI performance across domains such as chemical engineering, biochemistry, organic chemistry, and more
• Develop clear, step-by-step solutions with precise, logical reasoning
• Evaluate AI-generated outputs for scientific accuracy, depth, and quality of reasoning

Who You Are
