Job summary

Saint Anselm College's Department of Chemistry seeks a full-time Lab Manager to supervise daily laboratory operations, inventory, and safety compliance. The role includes coordinating lab setup/breakdown, budgeting, scheduling, and oversight of student assistants and part-time staff.

You will teach and prepare materials for chemistry labs, align syllabi with course faculty, and ensure labs meet safety standards while supporting departmental goals.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree preferred in chemistry or related discipline with relevant lab experience.
• Solid general science knowledge and broad technical knowledge in science lab management.
• Strong supervisory and teaching abilities for laboratory settings.
• Good organizational, administrative and bookkeeping skills.
• Proficiency with basic computer tools (word processing, spreadsheets).
• Familiarity with OSHA and hazardous waste management regulations.
• Ability to support diversity and inclusiveness within the college.

Responsibilities

• Maintain inventory of lab supplies, equipment, and PPE; manage budgets and purchases.
• Coordinate daily lab setup, breakdown, and safety compliance for courses.
• Supervise part-time lab instructors and student assistants; payroll coordination.
• Plan and supervise lab teaching, grading support, and alignment with syllabi.
• Lead ordering, quotes, and upkeep of department instrumentation and facilities.
