Job summary

Alabama-A Laboratory seeks a Laboratory Manager to oversee lab setups, maintain equipment, and support teaching in chemistry labs. You will supervise student employees, train staff, and manage chemical storage while ensuring safety and compliance.

The role requires strong electrical/instrumentation aptitude, efficient IT skills, and collaboration with faculty to plan experiments, with responsibilities spanning maintenance, purchasing, and safety oversight.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemistry or related field is required.
• Master's degree in chemistry is preferred.
• Electronic training or hands-on instrumentation experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair analytical instrumentation.
• Assist students and faculty with operation of instruments during classes.
• Assist faculty in construction of new equipment.
• Train and supervise student employees who prepare solutions and equipment.
• Maintain inventory of chemicals and laboratory equipment and manage storeroom.
• Enforce chemical safety practices and disposal procedures.
• Remain up-to-date with standards for chemical handling, storage and disposal.
• Set up chemicals and equipment in introductory labs and supervise staff.
