Job summary

Oakton College invites applications for a full-time faculty position in the chemistry department. The appointee will teach general chemistry, organic chemistry, and biochemistry to a diverse student body, while designing engaging curricula and assessments.

The ideal candidate holds a master's degree (or higher) in chemistry or related field, with substantial graduate work in chemistry, and demonstrates excellence in classroom teaching, lab supervision, and service to the college community.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be prepared to teach general chemistry, organic chemistry and biochemistry.
• Experience in college-level teaching and lab supervision preferred.
• Active in professional development and service to department and college.

Responsibilities

• Develop course syllabi with objectives, content, and grading criteria.
• Prepare lectures, instructional materials, and laboratory exercises.
• Deliver instruction and manage laboratory sessions according to schedule.
• Evaluate and advise students; maintain records of performance.
• Coordinate with department on texts, assignments and grading standards.
• Participate in college-wide academic and departmental assessments and committees.
