About the role
  • Bethel University invites applications for a full-time (24 load credit) tenure-track position in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry.
What you'll do
  • Teach the equivalent of a six-course load (composed of lectures and lab courses) for the year, including introductory chemistry or upper-division courses consistent with the background and interests of the candidate and the needs of the department.
  • Contribute to innovation in undergraduate chemistry education.
  • Lead and supervise student research projects.
  • Engage in student advising and mentoring, and University service.
  • Collaboratively support departmental goals in areas such as recruiting, curricular reform, assessment, and community building.
  • Live out a commitment to the liberal arts educational mission and Christian orientation of the University.
  • Contribute to an academic environment that seeks to advance inclusive excellence in the department and the discipline.
Skills
  • Specialization in biochemistry (research or teaching experience in metabolism preferred) or in organic chemistry with a strong background in biochemistry.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage in scholarly work in Chemistry or Chemistry education
  • Ability to teach chemistry to undergraduate majors and non-majors, and to students from a variety of socio-economic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to lead a research program involving undergraduates.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Strong interest in integrating faith and learning.
Experience
  • Teaching experience at the college level preferred.
Education
  • PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a closely-related field required.

Compensation

We are open to hiring an Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor for this position. The range for an Assistant Professor is $55,599 - $70,043; Associate Professor is $62,927 - $84,168; and Full Professor is $77,265 - $95,904. Salary and rank determined by education and experience.
