Job summary

Mars, Incorporated and its Affiliates is seeking a Chemistry Analyst for the Quality Innovation Center to perform chemical analyses and support scientific research and quality testing. The role requires rigorous analytical work, documentation, and equipment handling across a range of instruments.

You will contribute to method development, data integrity, and interpretation of results, while adhering to ISO 17025 and Mars Quality Management practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or natural/food sciences/pharmaceutical with emphasis in Analytical chemistry.
  • 2+ years' experience with chemical and physical analyses in food or related industries (advanced education may partially substitute).

Responsibilities

  • Deliver true, accurate results in a timely manner for analytical testing.
  • Carrying out routine analysis accurately while following documented methods.
  • Monitors regional laboratory needs on regular basis.
  • Operate, manage & maintain laboratory instrumentation
  • Maintains documentation of analytical results in ELN and/or LIMS.
  • Follow ISO 17025 and Mars Global Laboratory Quality Management System.

Job Description:
Chemistry Analyst
Shift: Tuesday - Saturday - 8:30am - 5pm

Laboratory Chemistry work is focused on chemical analyses in support of scientific research or quality testing including:

  • Planning, designing, and conducting laboratory experiments to test the chemical specifications of various substances, materials, and products to inform scientific research

  • Estimating the resources and time required to conduct an experiment and monitoring performance to ensure these targets are met

  • Collecting, preparing, and testing samples and recording observations

  • Preparing detailed reports with recommendations, applications, and conclusions

  • Performing routine maintenance and safety checks on laboratory equipment to ensure it and high-risk chemical ingredients (HRCI) at the Quality Innovation Center (TNT). This position is responsible for timely results and is a crucial member of the Regional Analytical Laboratory team and reports directly to the Regional Laboratory Manager.

What are we looking for?
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or natural or food sciences/pharmaceutical with emphasis in Analytical chemistry

  • 2 + years' of experience with chemical and physical analyses in food or related industries (advanced education may partially substitute for required experience).

What will be your key responsibilities?
  • Deliver true, accurate results in a timely manner for analytical testing.

  • Carrying out routine analysis accurately while following documented methods.

  • Monitors regional laboratory needs on regular basis.

  • Operate, manage & maintain laboratory instrumentation

  • Maintains documentation of analytical results in ELN (Electronic Notebook) and/or the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).

  • When appropriate, help to write/create documents for, and always follow laboratory quality management systems ISO 17025 and Mars Global Laboratory Quality Management System.

  • Use technical knowledge and expertise in the application of specialized analytical instrumentation to support Nutritional testing for pre-mix, pre-blends, mixer studies, raw ingredients, developmental products, and finished product analysis.

  • Specific instrumentation that will be used includes, but is not limited to, ICP, ICP MS, Leco Protein Analyzers, Fat Extractors, Auto Titrators, TGA, HPLC, GC, Mass Spec, Wet Chemistry tests.

  • Perform sample preparation, clean-up, separation, and assay.
