Job summary

Mars, Incorporated and its Affiliates seeks a Senior Chemistry Analyst to ensure optimal function of the Regional Lab analysis at the Thompson Station, TN facility. The role supports R&D and manufacturing with routine chemical testing and adherence to quality standards including ISO 17025.

The successful candidate will have 3+ years of chemistry lab experience, a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related field, and familiarity with production lab operations.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of practical chemistry laboratory experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related field (e.g., Food Science, Biology, pharmaceutical).
  • Experience working in a production lab environment.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 17025.
  • Knowledge of food safety is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver true, accurate results in a timely manner.
  • Assist and provide backup to Operations Manager in monitoring and planning support of the regional laboratory.
  • Assist and provide backup to Operations Manager in managing day to day operations of the lab and emergencies by constantly adapting resources within the laboratory.
  • Identify training needs for unit, updating training matrix for associates within unit.
  • Collaborate with Quality Coordinator to ensure all training records for unit/analysis are completed.
  • Follow KPI’s and participate in progress plans.
  • Provide technical advice for analysis.
  • When appropriate, help to write/create documents and records for, and always follow laboratory quality management systems ISO 17025 and Mars Global Laboratory Quality Management System.

Job Description:
Senior Chemistry Analyst
Shift: Tuesday - Saturday - 8:30am - 4:30pm

The scope of this role is to ensure optimal function of the laboratory analysis in the Regional Lab. To perform and conduct day to day testing of the Regional Analytical Laboratory to support both R&D and Supply (Manufacturing) at Quality Innovation Center (Thompson Station, TN).

The Analytical Laboratories conduct routine physical and chemical analyses based on MarsReference methods as aligned with Global Laboratory Strategy on raw materials and finishedproducts with emphasis on Quality and Food Safety. The associate will be responsible forinternal lab operational programs including lab safety, chemical hygiene and site laboratorysupport. The role also requires compliance with Mars Global Laboratory Quality Standards andwith long-term accreditation to ISO 17025.

What are we looking for?
  • 3 + years of practical chemistry laboratory experience (Graduate degree completion can substitute for up to two years of required experience)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related field (e.g., Food Science, Biology, pharmaceutical).
  • Experience working in a production lab environment
  • Working knowledge of ISO 17025
  • Knowledge of food safety and nutrition an asset
