Job summary

Diablo Valley College invites applications for adjunct instructors to teach Introductory Chemistry (CHEM-108) for Fall 2026, including lecture and laboratory preparation, teaching, classroom management, and student assessment.

Candidates should hold a Master’s degree in chemistry, or a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or biochemistry with a Master’s in a related field, or an approved equivalency. California Community College teaching credentials are preferred.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in chemistry or higher or equivalent qualifications in related fields.
• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or biochemistry with related Master’s in a field listed.
• California Community College Instructor Credential preferred.
• Equivalency petition process described for applicants lacking exact degrees.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum, course outlines and class schedules.
• Create and maintain an environment emphasizing learning, free discussion and critical thinking.
• Evaluate student progress and grades; meet with students outside of class.
• Maintain professional conduct and current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
• Fulfilling professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member.
