Job summary

Arcwood Environmental is seeking a Chemist, Production to support operations in developing daily plans for receiving, sampling, remediating, and incinerating hazardous waste. You will prioritize safety and ensure compliance of waste streams through testing and evaluation.

Requires a Bachelor's in chemical engineering or chemistry and 3+ years in an industrial or lab setting, with knowledge of OSHA/DOT/RCRA requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or chemistry is required.
• 3+ years of experience in an industrial or laboratory environment is required.
• Foundational knowledge of OSHA, DOT and RCRA requirements is required.

Responsibilities

• Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and maintaining safe practices.
• Coordinates burn planning for the incinerator and balances constituents from all feed sources.
• Oversees sampling and testing requirements for wastes received at the facility for compliance and proper incineration.
• Evaluates all waste deliveries for compliance with approved waste streams into the facility.
• Assists in chemical evaluation of process upsets at the facility.
• Tracks chemistry of materials going to the incinerator and storage tanks for compliance with risk assessment and tracking systems.
• Partners with Approvals on new wastes to be approved on correct processing designations.
• Partners with technicians regarding chemical safety and training within the facility.
• Assists with development and revision of SOPs for new processes across the facility.
• Participates in TRT and operations production meetings.
• Takes on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization.

• Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and consistently maintaining safe practices
• Coordinates burn planning for the incinerator, including the appropriate balance of all constituents going through all feed sources to the incinerator
• Oversees sampling and testing requirements for wastes received at the facility, including wastes that are not ordinarily sampled for compliance and testing to determine appropriate mix to the incinerator
• Evaluates all waste deliveries for compliance with approved waste streams into the facility
• Assists in the chemical evaluation of process upsets at the facility
• Tracks chemistry of materials going to the incinerator and storage tanks for compliance with facility risk assessment and chemical tracking systems
• Partners with Approvals on new wastes to be approved on correct processing designations
• Partners with technicians regarding chemical safety and training within the facility
• Assists with the development and revision of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for new processes added across the facility

Education

Experience

• 3+ years of experience within an industrial or laboratory environment (required)
• Foundational knowledge and experience working with OSHA, DOT and RCRA requirements (required)
• Previous experience in incineration, lab packing, and material handling processes (preferred)
