Job summary

Alcora Corp, based in Florida, seeks a Chemist II to join the Research & Innovation team to develop and refine cosmetic formulations for haircare, skincare, and color cosmetics.

You will prepare lab prototypes, ensure cGLP/cGMP compliance, and support manufacturing and QA/QC through cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years laboratory experience in cosmetics or personal care products.
• Strong knowledge of cosmetic ingredients, formulation techniques, and manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of cGMP and Good Documentation Practices (GDP); regulatory awareness.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute new product formulations for haircare, skincare, and color cosmetics.
• Prepare batches and prototype samples for testing and customer submissions.

Title: Chemist II

Reports to: Manager, Research & Innovation

Department: Research & Innovation

Location: B&R Products LLC, 33157

The main purpose of the Research & Innovation Chemist II role is in the development and execution of new product formulation and existing product improvements. The main responsibilities for this role are: preparing laboratory prototypes of various haircare, skincare, and color cosmetics; maintaining clean and safe laboratory space; compliance with all current Good Laboratory Practices (cGLP), current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) safety requirements and Standard Operating Practices – (SOPs); provide support to manufacturing and quality control as needed.

Responsibilities

• Work within the R&I team to formulate new products with an emphasis on creativity and innovation.
• Support the innovation and execution of new product development of personal care products.
• Formulate haircare, skincare, and color cosmeticproducts that meet customer guidelines. independently and with guidance from manager when needed.
• Prepare batches and prototype samples for customer submission, stability testing, safety testing, performance testing, and other tests as required.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, regulatory, and QA/QC, to support product documentation, ingredient selection, and formula proposals.
• Assist in the maintenance of laboratory raw materials, glassware, and supplies.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and safe laboratory workspace.
• Maintain accurate and detailed documentation in laboratory notebook.
• Support manufacturing scale up by participating in pilot batches and maintaining detailed descriptions of batching procedures to ensure batch reproducibility.
• Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, procedures, and state, federal and local laws.
• Operate, maintain, and perform calibration checks on laboratory instruments.
• Contribute to a culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence within the lab team.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, or related field
• 5+years laboratory experience in cosmetics or personal care products; batching experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of cosmetic ingredients, formulation techniques, and manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge in current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Good Documentation Practices

(GDP), Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 21 CFR, and other regulatory requirements such as ISO 22716.

• Strong attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (Spanish a plus).
• Proficient in computer applications such as Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and SAP preferred.
