Job summary

Penn United Technologies, Inc. is hiring a full-time Chemist for our Electroplating facility. You will sample, analyze and document plating bath chemistry while rotating daylight, afternoon, and midnight shifts weekly.

The role emphasizes statistical control, process troubleshooting and maintaining lab records with exposure to multiple bath chemistries and analytical equipment.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Chemistry or equivalent experience.
• Previous experience working with analytical equipment.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Self-motivated.
• Knowledge of electroplating technology preferred.
• Must be able to work daylight, afternoon and midnight shifts.

Responsibilities

• Analyze plating bath chemistry for various elements using testing and analysis methods.
• Monitor variability of bath parameters and establish/modify control procedures.
• Perform daily and weekly bath analyses on nickel, gold, copper, tin/lead, acids and cleaners.
• Establish sampling plans for in-house material analysis to maintain statistical control and certifiability of coatings.
• Troubleshoot chemical process control problems.
• Test concentrations using titration and ICP-OES; run hull cell panels and adjust chemistries accordingly.
• Maintain records confirming statistical control of plating chemistries.
• Follow safety and quality plans per company policies.
• Maintain lab equipment, records, and supplies.

Penn United Technologies, Inc. has an excellent opportunity for a full-time Chemist in our growing Electroplating facility. This person will be an integral member of our busy chemistry lab, with primary responsibilities to sample, analyze and document plating bath chemistry. This position currently requires the ability to rotate primarily between daylight and afternoon shifts on a weekly basis.

What You'll Do:

• Analyze plating bath chemistry for various elements, using various testing and analysis methods
• Monitor the variability of bath parameters & establish & modify control procedures
• Perform daily & weekly bath analyses on nickel, gold, copper, tin/lead and acids and cleaners
• Establish sampling plans for in-house material analysis to maintain statistical control and certifiability of coatings
• Troubleshoot chemical process control problems
• Test for concentrations using titration and Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometer (ICP-OES), run hull cell panels on baths and make chemical and additive additions based upon the results
• Perform daily bath analyses and usage analysis
• Maintain the records needed to confirm sound statistical control of plating chemistries, for current and prospective chemists
• Follow all safety and quality plans in accordance with company programs and policies
• Maintain records including production quantities
• Maintain all analytical equipment in the lab as well as maintain chemical & equipment supplies
