Job summary

Hach, part of Veralto, seeks a Chemical Technician II for the Bulk Chemical Manufacturing Department in Ames, IA. On-site role handling and moving bulk chemicals, testing and adjusting chemistry with wet bench techniques, and ensuring safety and quality in daily operations.

You will follow established formulations, maintain accurate records, and support continuous improvement while contributing to a global water quality mission and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• 1 year of completed college chemistry with lab required.
• 1 year scientific production, process, or lab technician experience required or
• Bachelor of Science degree in lieu of experience required.

Responsibilities

• Manufacture bulk solutions, powders, microbiological media and dyes.
• Use formularies to manufacture bulk reagents per work order.
• Perform production controls and adjust bulk reagents to meet product specifications and ensure quality.
• Release conforming materials to processing, packaging or stock in a timely manner.
• Operate all manufacturing equipment in a safe and productive manner.
• Maintain clean production and lab area to eliminate contamination.
• Maintain production equipment in proper working condition.
• Follow production schedule and communicate blockages to leadership and downstream lines.
• Comply with safety policies including PPE usage, lock-out-tag-out, and proper storage of tools.
• Maintain accurate production and inventory records, follow kanban.
• Accurately perform required computer data entry and work order transactions (LOTS, scrap, Oracle, Kanban).
• Identify continuous improvement opportunities.

Reporting to the Chemical Synthesis & Bulk Manufacturing Manager , the Chemical Technician II is responsible for safely handling and moving large quantities of powdered chemicals during manufacturing of bulk chemical reagents, in addition to using wet bench chemistry to test and adjust the manufactured chemistry using an assortment of techniques and instruments.

This position is part of the Bulk Chemical Manufacturing Department located in Aimes, I owa and will be on-site .

Schedule:

Monday through Friday from 6.00 am to 2.00 pm.

In this role, a typical day will look like:

• Manufacture bulk solutions, bulk powders, microbiological media and dyes.
• Use existing formularies to manufacture bulk reagents per work order.
• Perform production controls and adjust bulk reagents to meet product specifications and ensure quality.
• Release conforming materials to processing, packaging or stock in a timely manner.
• Operate all manufacturing equipment in a safe and productive manner.
• Maintain clean production and lab area to eliminate contamination.
• Maintain production equipment in proper working condition.
• Follow a production schedule and communicate with leadership and down-stream pack lines when
• roadblocks occur.
• Comply with company safety policies including safe operation of equipment, PPE usage, safe
• transportation and handling of bulk chemicals, hand tool safety, lock-out-tag-out, and proper storage of
• tools, etc. Comply with good housekeeping policies.
• Maintain accurate records.
• Keep accurate production and inventory records, follow kanban process.
• Accurately perform required computer data entry and work order transactions (LOTS, scrap, Oracle,
• Kanban).
• Identify continuous improvement opportunities.

The below range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. An associate’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.

The compensation range for this role is $27.00 - $27.00 USD per hour. This job is also eligible for Bonus Pay.
