Spherion Staffing, LLC is seeking a Chemical Process Technician for a hands-on, on-floor role in Owatonna, MN. The 2nd shift runs Monday to Thursday, 3:30 PM to 2:00 AM, with a base rate of $26/hour plus bonus potential.

You will monitor electrocoat paint lines, water chemistry, and run tests to keep systems running smoothly. The role emphasizes active production-floor work, routine QA testing, and participation in continuous quality improvements, with comprehensive benefits and growth

Qualifications

• Hands-on plant-floor experience with basic measurement tools and titration techniques.
• Detail-oriented and proactive with ability to follow control plans.
• Physical ability to bend, reach, stoop, push, pull, stand for a 10-hour shift.
• Must be able to wear a respirator with proper seal.

Responsibilities

• Water and chemical testing on the production floor (pH, titration, oven tests).
• Monitor RO systems and maintain chemical drums; ensure continuous operation.
• Triage process deviations and take corrective action per control plans.
• Oversee startup/shutdown and preventive maintenance of process equipment.
• Log data and maintenance actions to ensure quality records.

You will play a crucial role in maintaining continuous quality control for advanced electrocoat (E‑coat) paint lines, monitoring water chemistry, running operational tests, and keeping vital systems running smoothly.

Responsibilities:

• Water & Chemical Testing: Routinely perform pH level testing, titration tests, and specialized paint oven tests directly on the production floor.
• Process & Equipment Maintenance: Monitor Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems that generate purified water, change process filters, and ensure chemical drums remain filled and operational.
• Troubleshooting & Triage: Act as the first line of defense if process parameters drift out of specification, taking immediate corrective action based on established control plans.
• Equipment Monitoring: Oversee the startup, shutdown, and preventive maintenance of process equipment.
• Data & Quality Logging: Accurately track and record all test results, chemical adjustments, and maintenance actions in data logs to ensure strict quality standards.

• Physical Capability: Ability to bend, reach, stoop, pull, push, walk, and stand throughout a 10-hour shift.
• Safety Requirements: Ability to wear a respirator (facial hair and jewelry must not interfere with the respirator seal).
• Work Ethic: Reliable, cooperative, and a self-starter who thrives in a team-oriented environment.
