Job summary

Sky Mavis is seeking a Chemical Operator to safely operate and monitor site chemical processes from the control room and during rounds. You will oversee utility streams, collect data, and support maintenance, with direct reporting to an Operations Supervisor.

Responsibilities include following SOPs, conducting inspections, assisting in training, regulating equipment during emergencies, and ensuring safety, product quality, and housekeeping.

Qualifications

• Must pass pre-employment drug test, background check, and physical.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years of plant/manufacturing experience or a technical degree.
• Ability and willingness to work shift-based schedule.
• Basic technical math skills.
• Computer literacy for basic administrative and record-keeping duties.

Responsibilities

• Observe safety rules and act safely to protect yourself and others on site.
• Follow safety tools and permit processes and escalate issues to leadership.
• Adhere to SOPs, procedures, and trainings.
• Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on equipment; refer defects.
• Assist in training new team members.
• Regulate or shut down equipment during emergencies as directed.
• Turn valves to regulate flow of products or byproducts.
• Report with leadership to resolve safety, efficiency or quality issues.
• Operate machinery that controls material flows.
• Inspect pumps, mixers, columns, refrigeration, heating systems for efficiency.
• Assist with repairs or replacements of damaged equipment.
• Calculate material requirements or yields from defined formulas.
• Collect samples and perform routine lab tests (density, melt flow, color).
• Record process conditions and instrument readings.
