Job summary

Dover Chemical Corp in Hammond, IN is seeking an Operator to safely and efficiently run area equipment including heat exchangers, absorbers, reactors and pumps. You will ensure products meet customer specifications and maintain clean, organized work areas.

The role requires ability to handle physical tasks, pass a timed test, and work various shifts including overtime. Forklift operation and safe chemical handling are essential, with strict adherence to safety procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to work any shift, including weekends, overtime, holidays, with 8-12 hour workdays.
• Must be able to pass a 12-minute timed test that measures learning ability and problem solving.
• Must perform physical activities including lifting up to 50 lb and handling 500 lb drums.
• Must wear a full face respirator or SCBA.
• Must be able to operate forklift.
• Safety inspections and housekeeping responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Charges the various raw materials into reactors.
• Transfers products to appropriate storage vessels.
• Charges raw materials required for each product and operates area equipment to produce specified material.
• Controls production within operating limits of equipment.
• Diagnoses mechanical and process upsets and stabilizes operation.
• Opens valves and starts pumps.
• Records operational data in log books and transfer slips.
• Inputs data to AS 400/Infinium and Microsoft Dynamics AX as needed.
