Job summary

Gelest Inc., part of the Mitsubishi Chemical Group, is hiring a Chemical Process Engineer in Morrisville, PA. The role emphasizes process design, optimization, and technical support across manufacturing operations to drive safety, efficiency, and yield improvements.

You will collaborate with Operations, EHS, QA and other teams, lead design and scale-up activities, and participate in MOC/HAZOP processes. This on-site position requires hands-on processing and strong problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
• 5-7 years of experience focused on process development and project management.
• Lean/Six Sigma experience preferred.
• PSM experience preferred.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Proficient with data analysis and problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Lead process design, scale-up, and optimization for silicone and silane manufacturing.
• Analyze and improve unit operations to enhance efficiency, yield, and quality.
• Provide day-to-day process engineering support, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
• Interface with Operations, Engineering, Management, and suppliers for cost-effective improvements.
• Participate in HAZOPs and MOC for safe implementation of changes.
• Collaborate with Automation/Controls to support DCS/PLC systems.
• Contribute to capital and expense projects, commissioning, and start-up, validating performance.
• Create detailed process documentation and SOPs.
• Analyze data to identify cost reductions and energy efficiency gains.
• Prepare technical reports and present recommendations to leadership.
