Job summary

Nikkiso Clean Energy & Industrial Gases in Huntington Beach, CA is seeking a process engineer to model and optimize cryogenic process systems and to size major equipment. You will draft P&IDs, heat and material balances, and write operating procedures for applied technologies projects.

You will collaborate with Sales, Design, Project Engineers and Field Service Engineers, review customer specs, and contribute to safety analyses (HAZOP) and commissioning support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or related field with refrigeration systems study.
• Experience working in engineering research or testing environment.
• Experience using process calculators for process system modeling (Symmetry HYSYS CHEMCAD etc.) or significant experience utilizing thermodynamic databases (REFPROP NIST steam tables etc.)

Responsibilities

• Model and optimize system performance using process tools.
• Specify and select major/minor system components including compression, expansion, heat exchange, distillation, valves, piping.
• Create and modify Process Flow Diagrams, Heat & Material Balance tables and P&IDs.
• Write and review operating and testing procedures.
• Calculate plant performance and draft technical proposals for applied technologies process plants.
• Review safety documentation and participate in HAZOP meetings.
• Attend remote and onsite support for commissioning activities including plant operation training and troubleshooting.
• Develop process tools to improve or streamline design/selection of equipment.
