The Opportunity

We're seeking a remote (US-based) Chemical Process Engineer to play a hands-on, technical role in system design, field operations, and client-facing projects. Working closely with our lead engineer, you'll support design, calculations, and commissioning, with the opportunity to grow in a fast-moving, innovative environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed process calculations, equipment sizing, and system design for advanced water treatment systems.
• Collaborate with design engineers to review and refine system drawings and specifications.
• Perform feed studies based on water composition and desired outputs.
• Support commissioning and decommissioning of systems in the field (occasional travel).
• Interpret and utilize P&IDs, process manuals, and field instrumentation.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, hazard assessments, and permit-to-work systems.
• Work independently in the field or remotely, contributing to both technical and operational success.
• Provide clear, concise reporting on field activities and process outcomes.

Ideal Candidate Has:

• 3–5 years of field and plant operations experience in the chemical or utility industry.
• Strong hands-on experience with chemical processes and utility systems (boilers, chillers, water treatment).
• Familiarity with start-up/shutdown procedures and troubleshooting in plant environments.
• Comfort working with field instrumentation, P&IDs, and technical manuals.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety practices and operational discipline.
• Willingness and ability to travel occasionally (mainly in the US or UK)
• Physical ability to handle field conditions
• Flexibility to work rotating shifts if needed.
• Excellent observational and data-logging skills; strong written communication for daily and technical reports.
• Self-discipline, accountability, and the ability to work independently or in isolated environments.
• A team player who values collaboration and safety.

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred.
• Experience in water treatment or distillation processes is a plus.
• A master's degree is a bonus, but not required.
• Previous experience in water treatment or water research is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in both lab and field settings.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

The expected salary range for this role is $140,000 to $150,000, depending on experience and qualifications. This position is also eligible for benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as a 401(k) plan. Final compensation will be based on a variety of factors, including skills, experience, and location.
