Job description

Join our team as a Chemical Plant Technician and become a vital part of our manufacturing operations! In this energetic role, you will be responsible for maintaining and operating chemical processing equipment, ensuring safety protocols are strictly followed, and supporting the overall efficiency of plant functions. As a key position on the line, the personnel in this position will be responsible for all activities around the mold/laydown of the line. The ideal candidate should have excellent computer skills and the ability to understand chemicals, measurements, work collaboratively in teams, apply critical thinking, have quality and safety awareness, and be mechanically oriented. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop technical expertise in a fast-paced, safety-focused environment.

While the line is running, the chemical/laydown workstation cannot be left unattended.

All chemical SOP’s must be adhered to.

All check-sheets for production parameters must be filled out every hour. Ensure all relevant QC sheets are completed correctly, and the line parameters are within specification

The laydown operator/ Chemical Technician oversees/is in-charge of running the line at the laydown. He/she also ensures that the Product is manufactured within the specifications (chemical & engineering specs).

Assures Quality standards are met for all workstation/cell output:

Records all required data and then inputs the required data into the computer.

Ensures that all material is properly labeled and placed within proper staging / storage areas.

Identifies any non-conforming product to the Production Supervisor and Chemical engineer.

Informs Supervisor/Chemical Engineer and if necessary, stops production when out of spec to ensure the highest quality of product.

Adheres to all SOP’s on line and consciously reports/acts on any inconsistencies.

Complies with all PPE and requirements and ensures associates do the same

Completes all Preventative Maintenance requirements within the work cell.

Reports maintenance requirements to the Maintenance Supervisor

Communicates to Supervisors and Managers when policy violations are noticed within own work cell or other work areas of the facility.

Reports infractions to the Production Manager/Supervisor and Chemical Engineer.

Contribute to an ongoing culture of cleanliness and order within the workstation/cell. Laydown area housekeeping is this person’s responsibility.

  • Responsible for reporting tests relating to the manufacture of a quality product.
  • Report & work to fix any key findings and chemical/process issues.
  • Contribute to the following:
  • The Product is manufactured within standard times.
  • The Product is manufactured according to the production schedule (timing and sequence).
  • The product is manufactured within engineering specifications.
  • The product is manufactured with the least amount of material and labor required.
  • Assures quality standards are met for all workstation/cell output:
  • Records all required data.
  • Ensures that all material is properly labeled and placed within proper staging/storage areas.
  • Identifies any non-conforming product to the Production Supervisor and Quality Assurance Technicians.
  • Ensures that any task performed within the work cell is completed per the written Standard Operating Procedure(s) for that task.
  • Completes all Preventative Maintenance requirements within the work cell.
  • Reports maintenance requirements to the Maintenance Supervisor
  • Communicates to other Team Leaders and the Production Manager when Policy violations are noticed within their work cell or other work areas of the facility.
  • Reports infractions to the Production Manager.
  • Participates in any required disciplinary action.
  • Utilizes mobile plant and machinery in accordance with provided training, safe handling of bundles observed at all times. Any damage to product or equipment reported to supervisor for onward processing.
  • Conduct pre use / after use equipment inspections and report as necessary.
  • Contribute to an ongoing culture of cleanliness and order within the workstation/cell.
  • Follow the Group Code of Conduct and Group Compliance.
  • Follow Compliance requirements per "KNA-SOP-1705 Compliance Roles and Responsibilities."
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent, college degree (related field) preferred.

Two years of experience with products and processes in a manufacturing environment

  • Sensory Requirements: Near and far visual acuity for spotting defects or reading gauges. Hearing alarms, instructions, or machinery sounds. Peripheral vision for monitoring surroundings.
  • Cognitive & Environmental Factors: Maintaining focus in noisy or fast-paced environments. Performing tasks independently or in teams. Exposure to heat, cold, dust, or chemicals depending on the facility.
Hourly Rate $23.25 per hour plus shift differential
