Job summary

Kemira in the United States is seeking a Plant Operator to control and monitor process equipment in a Sodium Chlorate Manufacturing Plant, ensuring safe operations and product quality. You will perform laboratory and field testing, record plant readings, troubleshoot alarms, and execute operations with minimal supervision.

The job requires lifting up to 50 pounds, weekend/overtime work, and strict adherence to safety and environmental procedures.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Able to lift 50 pounds and ascend 4+ flights of stairs repeatedly.
• Good English verbal and written communication skills and math skills required.
• Must be capable of working with others in a team environment.
• Adept at troubleshooting and able to deal effectively in a plant environment.
• Job offer contingent upon passage of a drug screen, physical examination and respiratory fit test.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor plant instrumentation and equipment to assure safe and efficient operation and high product quality.
• Perform laboratory and field analytical testing per procedures to assure product quality.
• Record plant readings, test results, and describe plant operations and events on appropriate forms accurately and in a timely fashion.
• Investigate, troubleshoot and correct plant alarms and abnormal conditions.
• Clear and secure equipment prior to maintenance work.
• Conduct loading operations into transport containers, railcars and trucks.
• Execute all plant operations according to standard, quality and emergency procedures and supervisory instructions.
• Perform all duties with minimal supervision.
• Comply with environmental and safety procedures and regulations.
• Maintain work areas in clean condition and perform housekeeping duties.
• Participate in safety and quality programs as directed.
