Job description

The Innovation and Development Division (IDD) drives the innovation strategy for the Hubs and Operations, contributing to the Group's transformation. It is responsible for developing new solutions, particularly with high technological content, and incubating them until market deployment. IDD comprises over 3,000 employees from 70 nationalities across 60 sites.

The Global Markets & Technologies (GM&T) World Business Unit provides technological solutions in energy transition, maritime logistics, and scientific exploration to support Air Liquide's sustainable growth. GM&T offers environmentally friendly solutions such as hydrogen energy, Bio-Natural Gas, nitrogen for refrigerated transport, and biogas injection into energy grids.

Our Operations Group in Newport is seeking a Chemical Operator to operate production and testing equipment within our Manufacturing Group on a 12-hour shift. The Operator will report to the Manufacturing Supervisor. Military veterans are encouraged to apply!

Responsibilities:

  • Operate automatic and manual chemical process equipment according to procedures, including programmable logic control devices.
  • Follow specifications, work instructions, recipes, and procedures to produce quality products in compliance with ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards.
  • Perform complex liquid/chemical batch manufacturing and operate various production machines.
  • Work in C1D1 and C1D2 explosion-proof environments, handling hazardous materials and solvents.
  • Monitor and control process variables such as temperature, pressure, and flow rates.
  • Route samples for quality control inspections as per procedures.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and computer issues, involving experts as needed.

  • Maintain a clean, organized work area.
  • Properly dispose of waste materials.
  • Participate actively in safety improvement programs.
  • Adhere to all company policies regarding safety, quality, attendance, and conduct.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D., or 10 years of relevant manufacturing experience.
  • At least 1 year of industrial manufacturing experience.
  • Experience working in C1D1 and C1D2 explosion-proof environments handling hazardous materials.
  • Proficient in written communication, computer skills, and MS Office tools.
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor and lift heavy objects.
  • Ability to stand for long periods (2-3 hours).
  • Flexibility to work shifts and overtime.
  • Attention to detail, good judgment, manual dexterity.
  • Strong multi-tasking, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Deep understanding of chemical processes and equipment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.

Job Grade: Hourly-7

Compensation: The hourly rate is $25.75 in "DE".
