Job summary

Arkema is seeking a Chemical Operator 1 for our Ashland, Ohio facility. The role involves performing operator duties, blending and staging raw materials, and monitoring process equipment using distributed control systems.

Candidates should be safety-conscious and capable of lifting 50 pounds, with prior manufacturing experience preferred. Responsibilities include operating lift trucks, preparing materials, taking samples, and ensuring product quality while completing shop floor paperwork.

Qualifications

• Must be safety conscious, reliable, and have a strong work ethic.
• Minimum of one year of hands-on manufacturing experience desired; chemical manufacturing experience preferred.
• Must be computer literate and have good math skills.
• Good communication skills are required.
• Pass a pre-employment physical, drug test and background check.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Follow all Safety Rules, Regulations, Operating Procedures, Corporate/Plant Policies and Laws.
• Safely operate an industrial lift truck (sit down and stand up).
• Compounding and staging of raw materials; blending of chemicals and powders.
• Charging liquid chemicals and powders to mixers; monitoring mixers during mixing and reaction.
• Use of distributed control systems to control and monitor process; labeling and filling containers with product.
• Take samples of powder and liquids to ensure product quality, stage empty containers, maintain housekeeping, prepare equipment for maintenance.
• Safely handling industrial chemicals using established procedures and PPE.
• Accurately completing shop floor paperwork in both written and electronic format.
• Use of computerized MRP system and participate in safety meetings and training.
• Work 2nd or 3rd shift and frequent overtime (12 hour shifts).
