Job Description

USALCO is a leading provider of aluminum-based component products used in water treatment, pulp and paper manufacturing, catalyst production for oil refining, the housing market, and other sectors. The Chemical Operator reports to the Plant Manager or Production Supervisor, depending on shift allocation. The position requires a detail-oriented, self-starter who:

  • Incorporates safety and quality into every decision while performing day-to-day tasks.
  • Can efficiently operate and maintain chemical processes and equipment to meet manufacturing specifications and achieve maximum productivity without compromising safety or quality.
  • Will actively seek opportunities for process improvement and collaborate with management and peers to implement approved changes in a timely manner.

The Chemical Operator must be a positive-natured, task-oriented individual with chemical manufacturing experience, mechanical aptitude, and high computer literacy. This person should be motivated to work constructively with team members at all levels, execute responsibilities with urgency, support plant and business initiatives, and strive to enhance safety, quality, and productivity.

The responsibilities include manufacturing, equipment maintenance, analytical testing, bulk loading/unloading, and utilizing company computer systems.

Essential Functions:
  • Operate chemical processes and equipment safely to produce quality products.
  • Apply all safety rules, work guidelines, and procedures.
  • Recommend and participate in process improvements and adjustments.
  • Maintain daily QC data and process samples.
  • Use computers for quality control, inventory management, and documentation.
  • Perform physical labor as needed.
  • Work changing shifts as required.
Other Responsibilities:
  • Maintain cleanliness and operational status of process areas, laboratory, and equipment.
  • Unload railcars, load tanker trucks, and prepare shipments.
  • Operate heavy equipment.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment per procedures and inventory requirements.
  • Support production across departments as needed.
  • Develop and implement process, equipment, and procedure improvements.
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by management.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma.
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience.
  • 3-5 years of chemical manufacturing experience.
  • Basic college coursework in math, chemistry, and statistics.
  • Positive attitude, ability to work independently and in a team, and high performance standards.
  • Work overnight shift from 2 am to 10 am, with overtime and possible weekends.
