Summary:

At Harcros Chemicals Inc., an employee-owned company with a rich legacy in specialty chemical manufacturing and distribution, we're continuously expanding. With 2 manufacturing plants and 27 distribution facilities across 20 states, we're seeking a dedicated Chemical Operator professional to join our team to assist with opportunities. Reporting to the Direct Manager, this role will be responsible for assisting in the operation of chemical processes. As the face of our company, the Chemical Operator will also ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

Primary Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Follow work orders or verbal instructions to determine materials and containers to be moved.
  • Use forklift trucks to load and unload materials from trucks.
  • Load and unload tank trucks and railcars as needed.
  • Fill drums, totes, and pails. Oversee the mixing, blending, and packaging of both hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals in compliance with environmental standards and regulations.
  • Transport materials from storage or work sites to designated areas.
  • Operate industrial trucks or electric hoists to assist in loading and moving materials and products.
  • Generate, handle, and/or inspect hazardous waste and hazardous waste storage.
  • Respond or manage hazardous waste spills and incidents based on the site’s emergency action or contingency plan.
  • Prepare and manage hazardous waste records such as manifests, inspection logs, waste determination and other reports.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of 6 months of related experience and/or training.
  • And/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

The Required Skills We Are Looking For:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or video presentation.
  • Problem-solving skills in standardized situations.
  • Proficiency in basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).

Physical Capabilities & Requirements:

  • Ability to lift/move up to 25 pounds regularly, 50 pounds frequently, and up to 75 pounds occasionally.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle objects or tools, reach with arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Exposure to hazardous fumes or odors.
  • Noise level is moderate to loud.
  • Will frequently work in outdoor weather conditions.
