Job summary

Kelly is seeking a Chemical Operator in Bowling Green, OH for 3rd shift (10:00pm–7:30am). The role oversees manufacturing of microbial products and monitors fermentation processes, with direct hire and full benefits.

The successful candidate will follow SOPs, complete batch records, assist in fermentation operations, and monitor downstream processing. Prior chemical operator experience is preferred; lifting up to 50 lbs and shift work are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work odd shifts and overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Follow SOPs and review them for accuracy.
• Complete batch records accurately.
• Pull correct raw materials for fermentation.
• Monitor fermentation inventory.
• Assist in downstream processing of fermentors (centrifugation, spray drying).
• Assist in preventative maintenance of fermentation equipment.
• Keep the department clean and safe at all times.
• Operate forklifts as required.
• Batch media for fermentation runs.
• SIP, CIP of fermentors.
• Work odd shifts as required.
• Label fermentation vessel pipes and valves.
• Participate in safety training programs.
• Monitor in-process fermentation.
• Assist with microscopic observation during harvest.
• Ensure fermentation equipment is labelled.
• Use autoclave for addition bottles (acid, base, defoamer).
• Assist in training new technicians.
• Strong knowledge of pressure vessels.
• Strong knowledge of pump operations.
• Identify valve types and how they operate (pneumatic and hand).
• Troubleshooting skills in mechanical and electrical domains.
• Basic sampling skills.
• Chemical Operator experience preferred.
• Confined space, lock out tag out training preferred.
• Boilers experience a plus.
• PLC/HMI experience a plus.

Job Status: Direct Hire/Full Benefits
Salary: $24 per hour shift differential $1.00 with potential pay increases
The Chemical Operator will be responsible for the manufacturing of microbial products, monitoring the downstream process of the fermenters.

Job Responsibilities

• Ensure standard operating procedures are followed and reviewed
• Ensure batch records are completed
• Pulling of correct raw materials for fermentation
• Assist in monitoring of fermentation inventory
• Assist in downstream processing of fermentors; (centrifugation, spray drying)
• Assist in preventative maintenance of fermentation equipment
• Ensure department is clean and organized at all times and free of hazards and safety violations
• Operation of forklifts as required
• Batching of media for fermentation runs
• SIP, CIP of fermentors
• Work odd shifts as required
• Labeling of fermentation vessel pipes and valves
• Participate in safety training programs
• Monitoring of in process fermentation
• Assist with microscopic observation of bacteria example: harvest of batch
• Ensuring fermentation equipment is labelled
• Using of the autoclave for fermentation addition bottles example: acid, base, defoamer bottles
• Assist in the training of new technicians
• Strong knowledge of pressure vessels
• Strong knowledge of pump and pumping operations
• The ability to identify different types of valves and how they operate, (both pneumatic and hand valves)
• Strong trouble shooting skills in both mechanical and electrical applications
• Basic sampling skills
• Chemical Operator experience preferred
• Preferred confined space, lock out tag out training
• Experience working with boilers a plus
• Experience working with PLC's and HMI a plus

• Proficient with Microsoft Word and Outlook
• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
• Ability to work odd shift and Overtime as needed
