Job description

Summary:

The Chemical Operator will apply various technologies to test and modify manufacturing machinery and equipment. Additionally, they will operate chemical packaging and/or processing equipment, such as the production of Cyanoacrylate adhesives, photopolymer resins, and other chemical blends. The successful candidate will start at the basic level of operations as a chemical operator and can progress based on skill set and ability to perform different levels of the position.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Follow good personal safety practices on Chemence property, including compliance with FDA, OSHA, and EPA regulations.
  2. Obtain safety information on various chemicals.
  3. Manage daily lab manufacturing activities, including setup, in-process, and post-process handling and monitoring of reactions, intermediates, and products, following routers and instructions.
  4. Ensure compliance with cGMP, GLP, and FDA requirements, including accurate documentation.
  5. Suggest improvements to routers, work practices, and areas.
  6. Maintain equipment and glassware in ready condition.
  7. Report inventory shortages promptly.
  8. Handle, transfer, and verify inventory items.
  9. Properly manage waste materials, understanding types, storage, and safety requirements; instruct other departments as needed.
  10. Handle all chemicals safely on the Chemence property.
  11. Instruct other departments on safety and handling procedures when required.
  12. Participate in special projects as assigned.
  13. Maintain self-motivation for continuous improvement of work environment and personal performance.

Qualifications, Education, and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of manufacturing or production experience.
  • Basic math skills, with the ability to learn intermediate math skills.

Skills:

  • English required; bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.

Physical Demands:

  • Requires walking, standing for prolonged periods, and occasionally sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. May frequently lift/move up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds.
