Under the direction of the Supervisor, the Chemical Manufacturing Operator I sets up and operates departmental equipment to perform bulk material processing for the department Product line. Operators will also be introduced to standard chemical preparations and perform reactions in drying/kiln type furnace operations according to production orders.

Third Shift

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Perform all operational steps for powdered starting material, including blending, milling, concentrating off Isopropyl alcohol (IPA), vacuum drying and calcination.
  • Complete blend calculations.
  • Set up and run mills and monitor process.
  • Perform Particle Size Distribution analysis on milled material.
  • Read SOP’s & Work Instructions.
  • Prepare reaction vessels for the next run by rinsing, disassembling, ultrasonic cleaning and wiping.
  • Load reaction vessels with prepared chemicals by pouring, scooping or mechanically dispensing. Remove materials from the reaction vessels and clean reaction vessels.
  • Basic level proficiency in Microsoft Office, SAP and LIMs.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A High school Degree, HSED, GED or Equivalent years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a manufacturing industry.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds at shoulder height.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to low concentrations of fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, acid, and bases. The employee occasionally works with reactive material and may be exposed to low-level radioactive materials and extreme heat. All such exposures are customarily within limits established by federal and state regulatory bodies. The candidate must be able to wear various grades of PPE, including fully-covered Tyvek suit, shroud, nitrile gloves and booties for extended periods of time with reasonable levels of accommodation for heat/humidity.

The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR).

The candidate selected will have to qualify as either a U.S. citizen, a U.S. National, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., a Person Admitted into the U.S. as an Asylee or Refugee, a National of a country that is not prohibited from having access to U.S. controlled technology (via a letter of assurance), or a Person to be approved for an export license by the governing agency whose technology comes under its jurisdiction.
