Job summary

Quantum Computing Inc. seeks a Chemical & Gas Safety Manager based in Tempe, AZ, with 25-30% travel to New Jersey, Massachusetts, Illinois, North Carolina, Indiana, and California.

You will develop and maintain company-wide programs for safe chemical storage, handling, use, and disposal, ensuring compliance with IFC and NFPA across all facilities. You will author policies, manage hazardous waste programs, oversee gas safety and monitoring systems, and partner with site leaders to drive EHS

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
• 5+ years of EHS experience with emphasis on chemical and gas safety in relevant environments.
• Direct experience with pyrophoric and toxic gases and semiconductor chemicals.
• Knowledge of IFC and NFPA materials handling standards.
• Experience with hazardous waste management under RCRA.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain company-wide chemical storage, handling, and disposal policies.
• Own the safety program for gases, including cabinets, storage, and purge procedures.
• Manage gas detection, monitoring, calibration, and alarm response.
• Ensure NFPA/IFC compliance and liaise with AHJs and fire authorities.
• Oversee hazardous waste storage, labeling, and disposal coordination.
• Author procedures for receiving, storing, dispensing, and transfer of materials.
• Deliver training on chemical safety and emergency response.
• Support regulatory reporting (Tier II, TRI, state/local chemicals).
• Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with site leaders to evaluate equipment and processes for EHS impact.
