Job summary

Milliken & Company’s Dewey Plant is seeking a motivated Engineering Intern to join the manufacturing team. This hands-on internship focuses on continuous improvement initiatives and developing advanced manufacturing processes under mentorship.

The role emphasizes reducing waste, boosting efficiency, and cost-saving opportunities using LEAN methods, with a 40-hour work week from 8 AM to 5 PM. Interns collaborate with cross-functional teams and receive dedicated management sponsorship throughout

Qualifications

Rising Junior or Senior working toward a BS Degree in Chemical Engineering.
GPA requirement of 3.0.
Summer intern session runs from late May until early August; must be available for full-time hire during this time.
Prior manufacturing experience is preferred.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Skills to evaluate and optimize manufacturing processes; ownership and self-motivation.

Responsibilities

Develop a thorough understanding of factors affecting processes and products.
Use sound project management to manage the internship project.
Analyze problems and implement solutions using critical thinking and focused improvement methods.
Incorporate creative thinking to identify quality improvements and cost reductions.
Prepare diagrams, charts, and tables to reflect findings and support recommendations.
Communicate effectively with a diverse group to achieve location goals.
Participate fully in the Safety Process/Program in the Plant.
