Job summary

MedMark Treatment Centers seeks a compassionate Licensed Substance Use Counselor to support patients through medically assisted treatments and recovery strategies. You will conduct individual and group sessions, assess progress, and collaborate with medical staff to optimize outcomes.

The role requires an active Ohio license (CDCA/LCDC II/III, LPC, or LSW) and experience with chemically dependent individuals. EMR proficiency and a non-judgmental approach are essential.

Qualifications

• Must hold an Ohio CDCA, LCDC II, LCDC III, LPC, or LSW license.
• Experience with chemically dependent individuals preferred.
• Positive, non-judgmental attitude toward patients.
• Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR).
• Background check and drug screen required.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients through medically assisted treatment and addiction recovery strategies.
• Conduct individual and group counseling sessions.
• Collaborate with doctors, nurses, and counselors to support patient outcomes.
• Provide direct counseling hours and coordinate services across treatment.
• Develop initial treatment plans with each patient; review regularly.
• Complete bio-psychosocial assessments; plan aftercare and discharge.

Position Overview

The Substance Use Counselor will be in charge with assisting patients through medically assisting treatments and offering techniques for handling opioid addiction. Counselor conducts individual sessions and group sessions to assist with crisis management and coping strategies. Counselor will evaluate patients’ progress during counseling and collaborate with doctors, nurses and other counselors to assist the patients’ achieving overall outcome.

Responsibilities

• Substance use counselor will be in charge of assisting patients through medically assisting treatments and offering techniques for handling opioid addiction.
• Counselor conducts individual sessions and group sessions to assist with crisis management and coping strategies.
• Counselor will evaluate patients’ progress during counseling and in collaborate with doctors, nurses and other counselors to assist the patients’ achieving overall outcome.
• Provide individual and group counseling services; direct service hours at regularly scheduled intervals; coordinate all services throughout treatment
• Facilitates, establishes and reviews with each patient the initial treatment plan
• Completes Bio-psychosocial assessment.
• Develop aftercare plans and discharge plans
• Ensure efficient and effective delivery of counseling services to all patients in trauma informed manner
• Other related duties as determined by supervisor

Qualifications

• Must possess an Ohio CDCA, LCDC II, LCDC III, LPC, or LSW.
• Previous experience working with chemically dependent individuals is preferred
• Must demonstrate a positive, non-judgmental, and accepting attitude toward our patient population
• Understanding of an EMR system (electronic medical records)
• Satisfactory drug screen and criminal background check.
