Job summary

Openwork is seeking a Chemical Lab Technician to support plant operations by conducting routine tests on raw materials, intermediates and final products, and by documenting data while following safety procedures.

The role requires 2+ years of petrochemical lab experience, proficiency with GC, FTIR, ICP and titration, and strong math and MS Office skills. You must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work rotating night shifts with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in a chemical laboratory setting in the chemical manufacturing industry.
• Petrochemical lab experience required.
• Ability to multi-task in high production testing areas.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Performs chemical and physical tests using standard methods.
• Assist with equipment calibration, maintenance and basic troubleshooting.
• Cleans glassware and test equipment.
• Records data and reports results in systems.
• Maintains quality records and control charts.
• Complies with safety, quality and housekeeping requirements.
• Participates in cross training as needed.
• Prepares and tests samples to meet customer specifications.
• Daily testing of chemical samples for viscosity, density, and color.
• Daily testing using acid number and base number titration.
• Daily testing using GC, FTIR, ICP and automatic titrators.
• Documents results in data systems.
• Packages samples for shipping.
