Job summary

UC Santa Cruz is seeking a Chef de Cuisine to lead the UCEN dining kitchen on the Main Campus. You will oversee culinary operations, train staff, and ensure high quality food for campus events and daily service.

You will manage production, safety, and sanitation while collaborating with unit leadership to meet budget goals and guest satisfaction. This role requires strong leadership and culinary expertise in a busy, high-standard environment.

Responsibilities

• Develops, tests, and refines recipes for UCEN menus focusing on highest quality and speed of service.
• Coordinates staff feedback on service and ensures smooth operation during meals and events.
• Directs kitchen production staff and ensures proper sanitation, temperature control, and waste reduction.
• Oversees labor planning, budgeting, and cost controls for daily and event-based operations.
• Mentors staff in food preparation, safety, and service standards; coordinates with managers for timely service.
