Job Summary
To prepare and serve food in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, and facility policies. Supervises food production and presentation.
Qualifications
- One (1) year dietary experience in a hospital, skilled nursing facility, or related medical facility preferred (but not necessary).
- Knowledge of dietary procedures.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.

- Senses of sight and hearing, or prosthetics enabling these senses.
- Ability to work independently, with flexibility, integrity, and effectively with residents and staff.

- Capacity to lift, push, pull, and move equipment or supplies over 50 pounds.
- Ability to taste and smell food for quality assessment.
- Exposure to infectious waste, diseases, including HIV, AIDS, and Hepatitis B.
Essential Functions
- Compliance with departmental policies and regulations.
- Review and suggest menu modifications.
- Prepare meals according to planned menus, including therapeutic diets.
- Serve palatable and attractively presented meals.
- Maintain portion control and use standardized recipes.
- Ensure accuracy of resident meal trays.
- Proper food handling and hygiene practices.
- Daily and scheduled cleaning tasks.
- Proper storage of food and supplies.
- Assist with receiving and storing food and supplies.
- Record menu substitutions and meet meal timing schedules.
- Report accidents, hazards, and equipment needs.
- Attend staff meetings and trainings.
- Supervise the Dietary Department in the absence of the supervisor.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
