Gloucester Charities Trust is seeking a passionate Chef to join Magdalen House Residential Home. You’ll work 19 hours per week (post 1) or 17.75 hours per week (post 2) over a two-week rota, with shifts from 7:30am to 6:30pm and occasional weekend work.

You’ll prepare nutritious meals, support the Chef Manager, and ensure high standards of safety and care. We offer a competitive package including 28 days holiday pro rata, pension, DBS, and staff development.

Formación

• Experience in a Chef, Cook, or similar catering role.
• Qualified to Food Safety & Hygiene Level 2 or willing to obtain.
• Knowledge of allergens and special dietary requirements.
• Organised, reliable and able to work under pressure.
• Strong team player with good communication.
• Passionate about providing excellent food for older people.

Responsabilidades

At GCT we believe that good food is at the heart of great care. We are looking for a passionate, skilled, and caring Chefs to join our catering team and support the delivery of exceptional dining experiences for older people living in our CQC-regulated residential home, Magdalen House.

Working alongside and reporting to the Chef Manager, you will play a key role in preparing nutritious, appetising meals that support residents’ health, wellbeing, and enjoyment of daily life.

About the role

Post 1 – We have 19 hours per week, over a two-week average, contract available for a Chef to work in our beautifully kept residential home. The shifts times are 7.30am – 6.30pm and the successful applicant will be working 4 shifts over two weeks, including alternate weekends.

Post 2 – We have 17.75 hours per week, over a two-week average, contract available for a Chef to work in our beautifully kept residential home. The shifts times are 7.30am – 6.30pm and 2.30pm to 6.30pm, and the successful applicant will be working 4 shifts over two weeks, including alternate weekends.

We do not provide sponsored employment.

Main Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, and present meals to a consistently high standard..
• Support the Chef Manager in delivering a varied and nutritious menu
• Cater for specialist dietary requirements and texture-modified diets.
• Ensure all food is prepared and served safely and hygienically.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and comply with all food safety regulations.
• Complete food temperature checks, cleaning schedules, and other required records.
• Assist with stock control, ordering, and minimising food waste.
• Support Kitchen Assistants and work collaboratively within the wider care home team.
• Contribute to special events, themed menus, and celebrations for residents.
• Promote a positive dining experience that enhances residents’ quality of life.

Essential Requirements

• Experienced in a Chef, Cook, or similar catering role.
• Qualified to Food Safety & Hygiene Level 2 or willing to obtain.
• Knowledgeable about food safety, allergens, and special dietary requirements.
• Organised, reliable, and able to work effectively under pressure.
• A strong team player with excellent communication skills.
• Passionate about providing excellent food and service for older people.
